With ABO Project, Italbras renews its commitment to research

To defeat cancer by 2010. This is the incredible challenge launched by the cancer research organisation ABO (Biotechnology Applications in Oncology) that Italbras has given its full commitment by again financing an important and innovative project for the early diagnosis of breast cancer. In depth studies have demonstrated that similar tumours in different patients progress according to different biological mechanisms. Taking this into consideration today's research is focusing on the identification of BIOMARKERS which are the first “smoke signals” the organism sends out that in a in somewhere in the body a ‘fire is braking out ‘ – that is, an illness is developing. By BIO MARKERS it will be not only possible develop made to measure therapies for each patient, but, above all, it will make early diagnosis so much easier by allowing the identification of cancerous growths by way of a simple blood test whilst they still have only microscopic dimensions.
